It has been two days since we last posted and there isn't much new to report. We both played "beach" volleyball yesterday on the same team. I put "beach" in quotations because while the court is two minutes from all the sand one would need, the court instead consists of fine gravel. Apparently there are rules against removing any sand from the beach, resulting in a playing surface that is a little harder on the knees than one would desire. Abrasions aside, we both had a great time and look forward to playing next week. There was even a good old Wisonsin boy on our team, donchyaknoooow.
Genny surprised Will with Woody's pizza for dinner, and it was definitely worth the $24 we paid for it. Other than that, Sunday just consisted of studying for Genny and basketball for Will.
Today was not much more eventful, though Genny had some very interesting morning lectures on sleep and memory. Will continued to get his fishing equipment ready for a first cast tomorrow at sunset, and watched a video on how to clean and prepare stingrays just in case one ends up on his line. This was followed by watching videos on how to humanely kill stingrays, as most of the aforementioned videos involve butchering them alive.
For dinner we tried to make up for our Sunday lapse in healthiness by cooking a John Lee meal. These feasts, fashioned after our friend's breakfast/lunch/dinner, consists of a cabbage, bell pepper, onion, and mushroom stir-fry served on top of steamed brown rice with scrambled eggs and tofu. However, we later negated the health benefits of such a meal by treating ourselves to some ice cream for Genny and a brandy and caramel milkshake for Will. We both also see it fit to give a quick shout out to Mary Joyce for insisting on bringing down the bottle of chocolate syrup that lasted us the five months up until tonight.
Genny also wanted to add that one of the things that brings her the most joy down here is hearing Cornroll tip-toe up to her water bowl at night and take a couple slurps before going back to lying down in the apartment courtyard. She really is a pretty sweet dog, and affords us the luxury of having a "pet" without having to deal with the headache that is HAVING a pet. One day with little Lexie was enough to scratch that idea for the foreseeable future (at least for one of us).
We hope everything is going well back for everyone back in the states (and Canada), and we'll update the blog tomorrow night with details concerning fishing and hopefully some of Genny's memory related medical facts.
